How the Camp Works

Organizing the mammoth project of the Shah Free Eye and ENT camp involves planning and execution of many tasks by a group of committed and dedicated individuals.

The multi-faceted project requires consideration of the following key areas to name a few:

  • Camp asset management
  • Professional recruitment
  • Outside screening
  • Camp screening
  • Refraction
  • Admission procedures
  • Operating theatres management
  • Ward management
  • Pharmacy
  • Logistics
  • Camp Administration office
  • Doctors welfare and event management
  • Publicity

Without getting in to a lot of details, in a nut shell, get all of the above right, and you’ve got yourself a successful camp.

The planning and execution of the above requires a combination of experience, influence, delegation and a flow of fresh ideas; and therefore necessitates the inclusion of seasoned as well as juvenile committee members in the task force.

Organising the above, however, is not a simple task and it is important to have the right protocols and procedures set up to monitor the progress of each area.  It is with this in mind that the committee starts preparations as early 6 months prior to the camp dates.
